Rocktop Technologies builds the intelligence layer for the mortgage industry. Our software gives servicers, investors, and law firms real visibility into the loans they own and service: due diligence, portfolio surveillance, payment history reconstruction, document extraction, and default operations, delivered as a solutions layer rather than a platform our clients have to migrate onto.

We operate three product suites, Transaction Management, Portfolio Management, and Legal/Default, that pair deep mortgage domain expertise with AI-assisted automation. For an engineering leader, that means a fast-moving portfolio with genuinely hard problems: document processing at scale, workflow and rules engines, data extraction, and applied AI in a domain where accuracy is non-negotiable.

Job Summary
Rocktop is seeking an experienced engineering leader to run the day-to-day performance of our software development organization. Reporting to the Head of Engineering, you will own execution across multiple products and teams.

We are looking for an engineering leader who can turn company and product priorities into disciplined, predictable execution across multiple teams. We aren’t just looking for the strongest coder or the most brilliant architect. We need a leader who can cut through ambiguity, spot execution risks early, and coordinate multiple engineering teams to hit major delivery milestones. To succeed, you must be comfortable establishing realistic delivery timelines, speaking the language of our engineering team, and diving directly into the work when complex problems demand a hands-on approach.

This role requires a leader who naturally bridges organizational gaps. Our products rely on the unified execution of Software Development, AI, QA/DevOps, Infrastructure, and business stakeholders, meaning you must actively integrate engineering with the rest of the business. We need someone comfortable asking the tough questions: challenging estimates, forcing tough prioritization when capacity is tight, and surfacing execution risks early. You will help us cultivate an engineering organization anchored in real visibility, where commitments matter and teams focus on solving problems rather than explaining delays. The engineering talent here is top-tier and the problems are complex—your job is to provide the steady leadership layer that keeps the work aligned and progressing.

What You'll Own
Leading the Development Organization

• Lead Rocktop's software development teams: managers, team leads, senior developers, and individual contributors.
• Set clear expectations for productivity, quality, accountability, and communication.
• Manage performance, mentoring, and career growth; build the leadership layer beneath the Head of Engineering.
• Identify organizational gaps and recommend hiring, restructuring, or resource changes.

• Own day-to-day execution of Rocktop's development roadmap.
• Ensure teams have clear priorities, defined objectives, and realistic delivery commitments.
• Work with Product and Engineering leadership to turn business requirements into executable plans.
• Monitor progress and surface risks, blockers, and schedule issues before they become delivery problems.
• Drive predictable delivery of releases, enhancements, and new products.
• Ensure testing, code review, documentation, deployment, and release processes are consistently followed.

• Partner with the Head of Engineering to ensure teams implement and maintain Rocktop's technical strategy and architecture.
• Hold teams to established architectural, coding, and security standards.
• Promote sound engineering practice: automated testing, code review, source control, CI/CD, monitoring, documentation.
• Identify technical debt and establish plans to address it.
• Ensure teams build reusable, scalable components rather than duplicating functionality across products.
• Help evaluate new technologies, frameworks, and development tools.

• Maintain visibility into development capacity and allocate resources against company priorities.
• Balance competing demands across products, clients, and internal initiatives.
• Establish consistent development methodologies, estimation, and reporting across the organization.
• Define meaningful KPIs for delivery, quality, productivity, and team health.
• Partner with Product Management to prioritize and sequence work; partner with AI, QA, DevOps, Data, and Infrastructure to deliver it.
• Communicate status, risks, dependencies, and resource needs to Engineering and executive leadership.

• Established clear accountability and organizational structure across the development organization.
• Created reliable visibility into capacity, project status, priorities, and delivery risk.

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a closely related technical field.
• 10+ years of professional software development experience.
• 5+ years managing software development teams, including experience leading multiple teams or a full development organization.
• Track record managing complex software projects with multiple teams and dependencies.
• Strong command of modern SDLC practice, Agile/Scrum methodologies, and cloud-based application development.
• Working fluency in source control, CI/CD, automated testing, code review, deployment, and application monitoring.
• Hands-on coding ability sufficient to set credible expectations and engage directly with the work when needed.
• Demonstrated ability to recruit, mentor, develop, and retain strong engineering talent.
• Strong business judgment: the ability to balance technical quality against business priority.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
